Why and How should we see Ramayana?

Looking upon CORONAVIRUS Crisis, Central & State Governments ordered lock-down at All India level. On public demand Indian Television channel DD National started broadcasting the TV Serial Ramayana despite mild opposition from few vested interest groups.

So for I know Ramayana Serial was first time made by Late Sri Ramanand Sagar in 1987. At that time, only very few peoples had television at their home. In most of the cases televisions were too small generally 12” screen analog. Peoples from all castes and religions used to assemble at a common place to see Ramayana. If I am not wrong, then Ramayna episode were of half an hour duration but capable enough to empty the roads. People used to see it with full devotion. Peoples around the world used to see Ramayana. 

Why Ramayana happened in Treta Yuga

It is believed that incarnations takes place for basically two purposes i.e. solving big problems prevailing over there which is impossible for general public and showing path for future.

What is Ramayana all about? Ramayana is a process of removing negative powers from the earth and restoring the law of land, human values, love, compassion, righteousness and cooperation amongst the public. As you have seen in first episode, that atmosphere was very bad at that time. Negative powers had made their hold on all over the world under the leadership of Ravana. Here Ravana represents power of money, muscle and administration. He was full of ego and pride. He had very strong force capable to attack any state through his individual representative. He had attacked many schools and killed their teacher and students. He had captured princess of many states too. He was selfish and full of ego. Further it is story selfishness of Kaikeyi and Manthra, who were ready to go upto any extent, and their consequences. It is story of powerful king Dashrath who scarified his family and life to fulfill his commitment.  On the other hand, Ram represents a person of simplicity who always preferred human values over any political power. He always practiced loving all and serving all principal. Despite knowing everything he spoke only he was asked. He observed full discipline and obeyed his parents and teachers. He was never attached to his position as son of a king. He never took political help to clean negativity from the earth. Peoples loved him because of his simplicity and felt blessed in helping him. It is story of Bharat practiced detachment in his life and selfless love and he won the  heart of all.

Why everybody irrespective of his religious belief should see Ramayana ? 

Ramayana talks about human values. It talks about love and compassion. It talks about respect for all. It talks about mutual co-operation and trust amongst the society. It talks about equal opportunity for all in education and employment. It talks about detachment from belongings and attachment with values. It talks about practicing love and harmony with nature. So please don’t see it with eyes of religion. See it with eyes of values and Dharma. Ramavatar was taken place 15000 year ago when there was only religion of love and values i,e Sanatan Dharma. So all of must see it with eyes of love and values to enjoy. Since love is the language of heart and you will understand it irrespective of your mother tongue. In number of countries including few Muslim countries Ram Lila is played and all sections of society enjoy it.

Overall, Ramayna serial is a game of attachment vs detachment. One side Kaikeyi, Manthra and Ravana were attached with wealth & position in form of King dome and power to rule etc on the other hand Ram, Laxman and Sita were detached with these material objects. They pursued highest form of Sadhana called detachment and service to mankind. That's why they are still loved, respected and practiced by normal peoples.

In today’s scenario also we have forgot our values, our incredible culture, our customs and systems due to our monkey mind infected by many viruses for example selfishness, greed, envy and zealousness which are dominating our mind. Earlier we have promoted Chinese virus named “cheap good” to kill our own peoples business. Now entire world is facing threat of its existence due to new Chinese virus “CORONA”. Our Ram Sena consisting of Doctors, Nurses, support staff, security staff, volunteers, farmers, shop keepers etc are working day and night for our safety & security. At this time Ramayana serial is not less than any blessing for all of us.

One more point need to be cleared here that despite being strong in so many domains if we do not use our expertise for pubic interest or misuse our expertise for selfish reasons then we invite self fatal. Developed economies need to understand it in their perspective. 

Now a day, when there is television in approx. all homes, hope Ramayana serial will educate our new generations to be courteous, respectful, loving, detached and courageous like Ram and his Army while observing simplicity in their life. 

Bhagwan Ram himself said that pain and pleasure both are part of life. Pain gives us learning and pleasure a test of humanity. 

Therefore, I would request everyone, not to see Ramayana for entertainment, but to see it as an opportunity to learn and practice human values. It is like anti-viral sanitizer which can kill our mental virus of selfishness and greed too. Moreover it's a nectar to boost our mental immunity in the form of positive thoughts and actions too.
